Uniscan™ Measures Swine Foot-and-Mouth Disease

Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is a highly contagious and sometimes fatal viral disease of cattle and pigs. FMD occurs throughout much of the world, and whilst some countries have been free of FMD for some time, its wide host range and rapid spread represent cause for international concern.

The Uniscan's foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) test is a simple, rapid, and accurate one-step rapid test to provide digital read-out results. This rapid immunoassay was developed under the collaboration of Taiwan Unison Biotechnology Inc. and Animal Health Research Institute, TW. Some characteristics are listed in the following:

* Sample volume: 120 ul

* Reaction and detection time: 40 ~ 50 min (much faster than ELISA kits)

* Sensitivity: 93.3 ~ 95.6 %; specificity: 98.8 ~ 100 %

* Detect four types of swine serum: O、A、C、Asia 1
